Lamium maculata

£3.00Price

Lamiums, commonly known as deadnettles, are an interesting group of plants that superficially resemble stinging nettles. In fact, they don’t have any stinging ability and their resemblance to stinging nettles is to deter herbivores from eating them. Species can be annuals or perennials, with many valued for their ground cover abilities, pollinator-friendly flowers and preference of shady areas.

Lamium maculatum is a shade-loving perennial, highly valued for its drought tolerance and ability to form a bright carpet of silver foliage, with rich pink blooms in spring and summer. It’s especially useful for growing beneath trees and shrubs.

For best results grow Lamium maculatum  in moist, well-drained soil in partial shade. If growing in dry shade, give it plenty of water while it establishes.
