Geranium pratense-meadow cranesbill
Cranesbill, or hardy geraniums, are perennial border plants with saucer-shaped flowers in shades of pink, purple and blue. They're easy to grow, thrive in shade and flower for months. Geraniums are popular in cottage garden schemes and offer a long season of pollen and nectar for a number of pollinators, particularly bees.
Geranium pratense produces saucer-shaped flowers in shades of white, blue or violet, from early to mid-summer. There are many beautiful varieties of this plant which have been selected for their particularly fine flower colours.
Trouble-free, Geranium pratense thrives in most soils, except boggy ones. When the clump gets too large, simply lift the plant in spring and divide into smaller pieces.
